I have been to Willard the last few days just trying to catch wiper and found that the purple rattle trap is working well for just wipers.. I did catch one walleye but the rest were all wipers. My grandson and I brought home 5 wipers today from a 2 hour trip this morning fishing mostly trolling out front of the light pole a few hundred yards from shore. We did catch one Crappie on a number 7 glass shad. Surprised me.

Time to try out the batter recipe!!![cool]

Nice job - hope that batter recipe turns out well...

Thanks for posting your report.
We were having the same "problem" but it was somewhat solved by letting out more line to get the cranks down a little deeper where the wallies hang.

If you're trolling 2.5-3 mph, you'll want to let out between 120-140 feet of line to get that #7 shad rap down 12-13 feet, depending on what kind of line you're running.

Berkley's Flicker Shad runs a little deeper than their Rapala counterparts and run 11-13 feet which is absolutely perfect for Willard this year.
