Well I've been able to have quite a good time fishing at Carters over the last two months & for some reason the Spring bite seemed to last longer than it has in previous years. Based on last week's fishing though I'm ready to start focusing on Nick & Chick... I caught this one two weeks ago...it was very slow fishing but the weird thing is I probably caught the smallest Striper I've caught all Spring down there about 5lbs (I thought they were born that size....ha ha!!)...and then later that night when I had about gave up caught this magnum sized one...most def the biggest Striper I've caught at Carters this Spring..

I caught it on a large minnow shaped shallow diving crankbait casting across a long shallow point...boat most likely sitting in 25' water... This fish was about the hardest pulling fish I've ever caught..(be it fresh water or salt water)... Of course anybody thats caught a big Striper knows what the initial strike feels like..explosive.. This fish broke 50 lb braid loose anytime it wanted & almost spooled my Shimano Calcutta a time or two...I thought it had wrapped me up in a tree several times but I think that it had simply decided to bury its head on the bottom till I got enough leverage to get it coming my way..Very exciting time getting this one in the boat & she seemed liked she was doing just fine as she swam off..

Anyways a perfect way to wrap up the Spring bite I guess & I'm already looking forward to next Spring down there...Let's see what happens on Chick tonight...
