Last minute, we decided to head out to Utah Lake to try to catch some cats. We took some garlic shrimp out to Bird Island and caught a couple of the small mudcats. I caught 1, little brother caught 1 and my wife caught 4 nice white bass and 1 mudcat. We got out late so we didn't get much fishing in, but it was fun..

According to several of my old professors, Utah Lake has one of the most diverse and large populations of shore birds in the Western United States. Can't remember how many different species that have been identified, but there are a bunch. I have seen several different species of Storks & Herons, curlews, Cormorants, etc. It is really a wonderfully diverse avian ecosystem . Get out your binocs and identity charts and have fun !!!
