What a roller coaster of emotions I have gone through today. Today was the 1st opportunity I've had to take my Step-Son Micah fishing in 7 years. We get to the Park and my motor won't crank!! Dejectedly, we go back home. I'm thinking my "phantom" ignition problem has come to stay. I asked Micah to push the key in so I can listen to make sure the choke is working. Well, he does and then turns the key and cranks the motor. It fires!! I put the ear muffs on the water intake and ran it for a while. Then we go back to the river.
We go down the Chatt State bank from the sand bar to the last pier and then cross over to the other side and fish a couple hundred yards of the mud bank with blowdowns. I switched to a big spinnerbait there. We used Middle N's otherwise.
We caught 17 bass in the 2 1/2 hrs we fished. Micah got a 4lb LM and a 2lb SM for his best. My best were a couple of keeper sized spots and I lost a SM of 2-3 lbs on the Spinnerbait.
We had a great time together after all.
