My fishing buddy found out that he is unable to go fishing this Saturday so I have an opening for one or perhaps two to join me. We could go to Strawberry/Soldier Creek or perhaps Electric Lake. If anyone is interested in going and sharing expenses send me a PM. Leave SLC area at 5:00 AM and come home when we get tired of fishing, which could be late in the afternoon.

I was at Electric today, If you are thinking of going there plenty of ramp left to launch. It sure was nice to be sort of chilly after roasting in Price.
Didn't get the kokes too busy with the tigers.
Spent some time loading up on the shiners. Now I am trying to salt them TubeDude style.
Did not like that ramp launching alone But survived.
Good luck maybe I will see you up there.

I'd love to go if you are still looking for someone.

Were you trolling for the Tigers?

ZugBug,

No I wasn't trolling, Caught and used redside shiners that are in there, casted toward shore and slow retrieved back.
If you are after the tigers you can get by with no boat from shore.
I did good near the boat ramp from the bank while stocking up on shiners. I don't have a cast net so I used a cheapo minnow trap with some bread in it.

Only threw the trap out a little ways so I could see when it was time to pull it in. you gotta watch the little buggers as they eventually figure out how to get back out when the bait is gone.

Good luck on the tigers

I was thinking of taking my boat up there and launching alone. What kind of trouble did you run into? I can launch my Targa easily by myself, just need someplace to tie up the boat while I park the truck.

Didn't mean to give the impression that it is that difficult to launch,
I am a brand new boater and dumb as a nightcrawler when it comes to boat launching.
Was only the 3rd time for me so a solo launch was a bit nerve racking (for me)
No trees or dock to tie off on, but easy enough to use a couple heavy rocks or your anchor on the bank while you park.
You could easily somewhat beach on the soft bottom just a couple feet to the south of the ramp then tie off on a rock.
I was just being a nervous Nellie because its all new to me.

Good luck when you go!

Thanks so much for that info. It sure is easier to have a dock to tie to, but I do have a sand spike that I've used at Powell, homemade from some rebar and a piece of 2 x 4, and I could even bring some hip boots. I'm thinking I might even bring the tent and stay awhile, since it's a fairly long drive and a beautiful place to be. Apparently there are some Forest Service primitive campgrounds in the area. Thanks again for your help!

Well you are most welcome, When I was there on Thursday there were 3 trailers parked right on the beach with the boats anchored to the bank.
during the week you should be just fine, the campground is close if you cant squeeze a tent on the bank.

I was thinking of doing the same thing even though I am close. might just sleep in the back of the truck (topper on)

weather looks iffy until mid week, Never thought about a stake so thanks, I have plenty of trapping stakes to call into service.

Sure is nice and cool up there, purty too!
