Has anyone been having really good success with cats in the last 10 days or so. I did really well late June, and early July, but last weekend it was much slower than it had been in the previous weeks. I fish the west side of the lake, and I also noticed the carp froliking in the reeds was nearly non existent last weekend.

I agree that the catin' has slowed down from what it was just a couple of weeks ago. With the spawn winding down and the heat going up and the water going down I think they have dispersed to their summer homes to recover from the spawn. I drive by Lincoln from time to time and there are still a few boaters and more shore fishers. The water level is dropping fast now.

I have been at the launch right at daylight a few times to stock up on the baby whites that come in for the bug hatch. They are easy to catch on a calm morning as the bug hatch begins... perfect size at about 4-5
inches long. I plan to hit the cats hard as the weather cools and they start aggressively feeding again. Best chance for the bigger cats will be in Sept. and Oct.... if there is any water left.

Looks to me like the big boats are finished for the year at the Lincoln launch. As the water continues to drop it will become more difficult to get a boat trailer low enough in the water to slide a boat off. Then it will be tube/toon time.

I have not seen a truck on the rocks at the first spring yet but it looks like you could drive out there now. This week for sure.

Still lots of good catin' ahead.

I am going to try a couple of other locations next week and hopefully pull something of size out.

I launched from Saratoga last night about 5:00pm fished on the southside of the lake until 8:00pm and we boated 14 channel cats avg size was 23 inches, also caught 2 mudcats and 1 whitebass.

I hope those big boats keep launching to dredge out the channel,[sly] if they use the north side of the ramp it drops off at the end of it, float right off. found it last fall, kinda surprised me when the trailer dropped out of sight. is it that low yet.

MSM-- They don't launch from Lincoln. They have a camp trailer and their conveyor/loader parked in Goshen Bay near Lebaron's Point. The barges are anchored just off shore when not in use. They trailer their airboat out every morning and go from there. Must be big flat bottom barges but they do pull them around with motorized boats. They seem to be hammering the west side now. I'd like to talk to them some time just to ask if they ever pick up any big cats over there.???

I always launch off the south side of the Lincoln launch. I am aware of the hole or drop off on the north side. I dropped off there once last year and the leaf spring bracket on my trailer hung up on the end of the cement. Didn't have my 4-wheel drive and it took some serious banging and semi-strong language to pop up and on to the cement.

I was at Lincoln yesterday and the water is still right around 2 ft. in the middle of the channel. I might go out tomorrow morning just for the entertainment value of watching the power squad guys as they come and go. Should be fun.

Take a lunch and a big drink. The people watching should be quite entertaining.[Image: happy.gif]
