Ive been a few times looking to get into the the stripes this year, its been tough so far. The biggest reason is bait. I have been stubborn and not thrown any artificial, mainly because when the bait is plentiful I really enjoy taking people that never fish or have never caught big hard puling fish. Using artificial baits gets hard on the wallet due to the nature of this type of fishing. You can expect to lose your rig every third or forth drift on a newbie, that adds up to $30-40 bucks per angler on the boat out of my tackle box!

DRC and I were able to find a total of 7 usable baits at Nicakajack one evening, we got 4 bites and landed two stripers with the larger being about 16 pounds.

Wade and I found a lot more bait, but most was too small to do what I do, until luck Smiled upon me and an angler pulling out for the day gave us his leftovers he got in the middle of the night. We ended with 8 stripers and one large white bass, plus a channel cat at Ft Loudon but no size to the fish. The biggest was only about 12 pounds.
