<br /> well day 2 of "physical therapy" didn't have as many keeper crappie in the boat but with glockjr and good friend big mike we sure put a woopen' on those white bass and large mouth as well as big mike getting into a 4lb flathead on crappie gear!<br /> we put it at grass hopper around 7am and headed north to find the whites in deep water. while the current was still slack we started using 1/8 oz jigs with bobby garlands, color didnt seem to matter. toss it out let it hit bottom, 2 or 3 cranks up and <br /> put the rod tip to the water then swiftly bring the rod tip to 12 o'clock ,rod tip swiftly back to the water and if it looks like your line hit bottom ....... well it didnt SET THE HOOK !!!<br /> the large mouth and spots were back as well busting shad on the surface. using mini flukes on a 1/8 oz jig head did the trick there . at times it was chaos with lots of doubles triples and even 4 fish at one time with 3 people WHOO HOO!!!<br /> i had hooked a white when the LM started boiling and passed my rod to mike to pick up and throw my other rig, no sooner did i get hooked up with a lm and mikes rod almost left the boat then glockjr hooked up with another white !!<br /> the current started picking up around 9am or so and we switched to some 1/2oz lead jigging spoons i had and the whites we so thick in places that if you didnt get em' in the mouth you got in the belly, back,tail and one that fought 3 times his size because he was hooked in the <br /> ......... well lets just say its a good thing spawning is over for the whites emoEek we lost count of both the whites and the LM/spots then around 11am the current got up to where even the 1/2 oz spoons wouldn't stay down where they needed to be . <br /> we then headed to a slough to fish some docks for crappie, while we didn't do as well as yesterday we still put 19 solid keepers in the boat with about the same number of throw backs. same pattern today as yesterday shady docks in less than 8 fow some as shallow as 5 fow.<br /> who said you cant catch good crappie in the middle of summer in shallow water ???????? wait no keep that rumor going ............ <br /> before we had to leave big mike set the hook , said he was hung about the time the drag started screaming . his eyes got big and the battle ensued. " this cant be a crappie can it " he kept saying . no it wasn't a crappie but a very pissed off 4lb flat head. <br /> i was thrilled to get big mike out on the lake and that the fish cooperated because he only gets to go once or twice a year it was also the 1st time in a long while that glockjr was able to go with me. a great day on the water with family and friends. i feel blessed emoAngel <br />
