I'm headed up on another camp with a few scouts. A short weekend next week.

We are looking at camping near Wall or Long lakes and fishing the nearby lakes and ponds next week.

Has anyone been up to the area or have an opinion about where the best fishing will be?

Thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong either way. Both lakes offer close-by alternatives if they themselves aren't producing and both have good camping sites in a great area.

FWIW, I was up in the area last week and I fished Long for about 20 minutes while I rested on my hike. I only had one hit. I did well in other lakes in the area though.

It has been 4 years or so, but I camped at Long lake with some scouts, It was good at dusk, as most lakes likely are up there. In one day we hit Weir, Marjorie, and long pond. It was a good trip. I recommend getting to weir by following the outlet to Long lake, It has some "fun" spots to navigate. Not sure I would do it with 12 and 13 year olds, but there are ways around the challenging parts. Marjorie will give you a chance to catch some grayling.

We were up there for several days and made a trip to island lake as well, which may be a bit much for just an overnight trip.

Wed- Friday morning we had the place to ourselves pretty much. Friday afternoon the troops came marching in. One group, not scouts, but young college age kids, decide we had a nice camping spot, so they set up about 30 feet away.

Haven't stayed or fished at wall.

If you find the island at long lake let me know. My map shows a large one right in the middle, but I sure couldn't see it.

I was just at Wall this last Saturday morning. Here's a link to my report. Not sure about Long Lake. I did talk to a guy that had camped at Wall the day/night before and he used a fly and bubble to catch a few.

Thanks a bunch for all the information.

I definitely want to take a shot at some grayling.

It sounds like we may want to hike a little further to stay away from the Saturday crowd. We are headed up early Thursday and planning to leave Saturday morning though ...

Thanks again for the replies!
