Three day weekend, and on the water 2 of those days. Took # 2 son to Benson / Upper Bear River on Friday.
We launched at Benson just at moon set Friday morning
Caught about 5 small mudders. Son got his early morning heart start with a couple minutes tug-o-war with a good size Carp. That Carp was wise and probably escaped more than one angler before. He came unbuttoned at the boat side, but he held on long enough to give the son a good rush.

But since he didn't get it in the boat, no photo. [mad] He did manage to boat 2 others later on the river. We moved from the marina, up to the upper Bear access point and went up river. River level still fair, stay in the middle and it's 3 to 7 feet depending what part and how far up you go. We didn't go below the bridge when we came back. Friday was his birthday and we had a family gathering to get to that evening.

Took Saturday off with the intent of getting some yard work done.....NO-Way Jose....TOO HOT.

Got up and made it out to Willard today. Launched from the south marina. A friendly piece of advice......if you are in a boat that drafts more that 1.5 feet of water, go to the north marina. I think today will be my last south launch. Once out in the channel it's 6 to 8 feet, and get all the way out past the second set of buoys before you turn (especially to the right -East) Past the buoys, you are fine.
On the water at about 0740, lines set and cruised toward the west wall angling toward the lite pole. Never made it there. Chrome and blue rat-l-trap running at 2.8 - 3.1 mph took several hits. I photo'd the first 2, but all of the rest were same size range, all released. I kept getting a hit, netting and releasing, turning back and plowing thru the same patch of water again....maybe 5 or 6 times.........hit every single time I made the turn to head north again, with a nice breeze at my back.

Decided to run down along the south wall and try out a few of the spots I've caught Cats in the last couple years. Was heading to Freeway Bay with the idea of using up all my worms for Cats, then trolling back. Well, I sort of stuck to that plan.

First 2 spots I stopped at I caught several small Cats, young uns still in their spotted PJ's. Didn't photo them. Then the 3rd spot (out near the Feed Lot) I used up the rest of my worms on several hit-strip-run, and more small Cats boated.

Released the last Junior Kitty and headed for the ramps.

That's good advice about the south marina at Willard. I think it's lose lose on both marinas. South is shallow and the north is crowded. Nice work on those wipers!

Nice going Forest, you did good. Sounds like I better get those loud rattle lures out, on my next trip to the Bay, thats the second report of them picking up some wipers. With the water conditions being so murky out there, rattle traps sound like the hot ticket. BTW, are you a grandfather again yet?

Sounds like a great weekend to me. Keep it up!
