Doesn't look to professional, but I heard this was coming. We quit club tournaments there 5 years ago.

Doesn't say no float tubes or no fishing 😜

Says no water craft ? What is the difference between a paddle board or a float tube ?

I'm sure they're included, I was just joking. I have no plans to go there this fall. There are plenty of other lakes in the area that don't charge you $5 to park there.
Does anybody know the reason they're blocking all watercraft? I get the ski boats or even motorized craft, but what harm does a float tube or canoe do to the reservoir?

If they are going to be so restrictive fish and game needs to stop planting it . Why put our dollars into a lake they controll and make a profit from .

Seriously. I don't know why they think they can be that way, there's only about a dozen other lakes within about a half hour drive from there with good fishing that are free to park at. The only difference I can see is the more extensive camping available there, though for me that leads to me not wanting to fish there as much because of the crowds and noise. I really only fish there once or twice in the spring when the willows and cottonwoods are flooded.

I guess they're being overly cautious. I suppose I can't blame them, but it still seems unlikely for mussels to be spread on a tube or paddle board. I sure hope all the other lakes don't end up like that. I just might have to move [:/]

I just read in the local paper today that all the reservoirs that belong to the twin lakes canal company are also closing down. I think they are Winder and Condie, but I'm not sure. The rest of the reservoirs are open to boats under ten hp, except Foster and of coarse, electric or no motors only.

Well that sucks. Those are some of the quieter places to fish, and now more traffic is going to be consolidated into the remaining lakes. I guess IF&G needs to get working on some of the other reservoirs then. Foster is pretty useless unless you like planter trout, Weston is down to a stinky mud puddle, they're talking about poisoning Treasureton at some point to get rid of the bass. I guess that leaves three largemouth reservoirs for me to work on figuring out, though I haven't been too impressed with any of them. I guess I'll be fishing for smallmouth more [:/] Hopefully they get rid of the minimum size limit on the smallmouth there so we can thin them out so they quit stunting. Not sure if I'll bother buying an Idaho license next year. Then I'll be stuck with the hordes on Mantua. The horror.

Oh man this sucks.
I might have to give a last shot tonight.
I don't get why they have to shut it down for no motor watercraft. I assume treasureton is part of the same group.
I'm thinking about buying a boat, but why if they close everything down.[frown]

Treasureton is a different canal company, so it's still open to water craft. I guess I have to look at it as it forces me to learn new waters which can be fun in its own way. I'm still going to miss those huge bass I used to catch up at Winder.

They are just closing for the year right? Aren't they closing the check points and that's why they are closing down access to those waters? That's my understanding anyway.
Also caught some nice bass early in the year but nothing big lately.
I did end up trying Condie. I was not the only one with the idea.

I've never actually seen an inspection station at Winder or Condie. I kind of got the sense that Twin they would maybe open up a station again next year, but that the other two were just closed. I could be wrong, I'm crossing my fingers. It still sucks either way. Fall is one of the best times to fish those two.
I too had kind of a slow season for bigger bass the past two months. I did nab this 20" last week though.

Well I might as well winterize my boat now. I don't get on here often, but this just really threw my fishing plans for a loop. I really cant understand why they shut down fishing for non-motorized? The whole reason I have a tube is to be able to use it when I cant launch my boat...
This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially when you consider the amount of money we pay as non-residents for a calendar year license.....

I've been kind of down in the dumps the past couple of weeks since hearing about the shutdown. I've been trying a couple of other lakes, but I've been far from impressed so far [:/]

I have a seeking suspicion that it has to.do with them being shut down yet again on their dam proposal on the narrows. Because shortly after they were denied b this happened.

Just like the last time they were denied, suddenly Condie was drained down in a week's time. Or the time before that, they drained Winder down [mad]
