We hit Rockport this morning from 7:30-10:30. We went out from the marina until we were over 28' of water. The finder only marked 3 schools of fish the whole time we were there. We had a total of 6 bites on three poles. My cousin's little boy caught a perch and I got what I thought was a trout up to the hole before it fell off. But, right before it got off I realized it was a fat chub. I kind of wish that I would have gotten it out of the hole so that I could enter the first trash fish in the IFG Challenge.

That isn't a good report the day before the Huge Extravaganza. Someone must of told them we were coming. At least you got out & listed a report, Thanks.

We may have been on the wrong side of the lake. We did better than the guys around us, but on the way out I glassed all the groups on the west side and I could see at least a few fish on the ice.

Too bad there's not more time or the pary could be moved to Echo.

I think that the fish are just resting up for their hard day tomorrow. Someone must have told them we were coming. Just imagine the poor fish knowing the best of the best of Utah's anglers are about to emerge upon them. I would be hiding too! DKS

No offense, but i hope it was just you and your group that had bad luck!!! But doubt it. [Sad]About a week ago, i considered moving the party to Jordanelle, but i am still very positive as a group, we can get into a good amount of fishes at rockport!!! [cool] Just a question did u have strike indicators on your poles. i noticed that was the biggest difference on getting hits with perch and bows last week at Jordanelle. people in our group with strike indicators were getting fish 3-1 than people who didnt.

That was probably a sucker not a chub. We caught one last week about 14" and one last year that was close to 22". To bad you lost it that really would have been a great fish to add to the contest. Lets just hope they are resting for us tomorrow.

Yes we had strike inticators. I was using a wire bobber and the other two poles had bobber stoppers with small red/white bobbers.

It was definitely a Utah chub. It looked just like the hundreds I caught at Jordanelle last summer.

I have never fished by the marina, but I've fished over by the pulloffs on the way in to the marina and I have never gotten skunked over there in the last three years. I think the marina will get more pressure but just walk down the hill on the other side. I think the luck will be better.

I went to Rockport as well, arrived around 10am and fished with 5 people from the Draper area about 100 yards from the boat ramp. When I got there the group had about 10 nice nice trout. I caught two 'bows, one with a red ratfinkee and one with a san juan worm. It was pretty slow but I'm confident tomorrow will be active for the party.

some days are like that, i have fished on both sides of the lake and it's about 6's. i think the ramp side gets alittle more pressure because of access. i usually go south of the ramp in about 20 foot of water. always done well.

enjoy everybody and have fun tomorrow
