I went out for a few hours today to play with my new HBird 999 and test my new Tempest Plus 23p, but no testing was needed! Im sure ill dedicate a day to fine tuning the jackplate and pvs plugs, but the boat ran absolutely AMAZING with the New prop. Significantly less bow lift during planing and better hole shot. When i got out it was a little choppy and i was just cruising on top of it, where with the Trophy i usually seem to slap a few of them. Also hit 58 @about 5300 rpms with a little left. So 60 is there. The new bird also put me on some fish. Pulled up to drop, off of the main channel, where I marked a lot of bait. First cast with a shakey and a white bass feeding frenzy starts about 20 yards from the boat, and i caught 7 on a buzzbait in around 12 casts, super fun. Then tried to fish under them to see if i could find somethig green to play with but that was a no go. Then i went to the grass. Big bass were trapping bait and going crazy all around the edges in 3-4 different areas. Had 4 blow ups on a frog but no takers, caught a 2.2# on a sammy, and nothing else from there.I threw everything i had but they prefered all the bait that was piled into the area. Started getting dark so headed into Wolftever Creek to fish some different grass and caught a couple decent fish. A long skinny 3.8 and a 3.1, both on a chatterbait. Called it a day around 9. The new prop and graph make it seem like a new boat! I feel like i did the day i brought her home.
