Some friends of mine and I hit Mammoth today about 8:30 and fished from our tubes/toons until about 2:30. We were all using fly gear with both medium and fast sinking lines with sizes 4-8 crystal buggers, leeches, and soft hackles in various colors. The water temperature was 53-54 degrees and the visibility in the water was about 8' because of the algae. We all managed to pick up a fair number of tigers along with a 17" and a 19" cutthroat. There were five other folks on pontoons and a couple of boats. It looked like everyone was catching fish.

The reservoir level is at 59% full and dropping slowly. Thats about 2' below the end of the boat ramp but you can still launch a small boat with no problems.

We got an added bonus with a chance to see a bull and cow moose come down and get in the lake and swim across.

It was a great day to be on the water.[Smile]

Actually, at one time, I counted 12 tubes or pontoons. That's a lot for a lake that normally doesn't see that many fishermen in a week. I got there too late to see the moose. That would have been cool.

It was a busy day for Mammoth but it looked like everyone was doing pretty well.

Nice tiger!

We were the ones in the fish cat float tubes parked next to you. The moose came across the road just east of where we were parked.
