Thomas and I prefished for this CBA more then we have in a long time. We always love fishing October and felt like this was a month that we could compete more then normal. We located 5 mats this week that we felt like had good quality fish in them. When we got to our first mat, there was a boat on it with its lights out. As we approached the mat, they turned their lights on so we pulled a U turn and went to area #2. Within 15 minutes we had two fish on a frog in the boat for about 2.5 pounds a piece. Thomas then caught a 4 pounder for our third fish about 20 minutes later in the same mat. The next 45 minutes is when the day changed for us. I picked up my punching rod and flipped into the mat that we had been frogging for the past hour. I felt pressure and set the hook on what ended up being my new tournament PB. She weighed 9.63. I knew that this was the kicker we needed if we could get a few more key bites. Thomas then yells net as I am checking on the fish and caught a 7 pounder within 5 minutes of me catching that one. We ended up leaving the mat around noon and only made two culls for around 2 pounds. We thought we had 22-23 pounds, but ended up with 26.4? for big fish and the win. All fish were caught on snag proof and reaction innovation frogs except the big one. It was caught on a berkley havoc pit boss with a 1oz pegged weight. All fish were in grass with the deepest being in about 6 foot. hopefully some fish will hang around this week for the Heartland. It was alos nice talking to Earl on the water today. He saw us with about 2 hours to go and said he was practicing to win the CFF next weekend!!
