Been getting some nice blues and Crappies out of CJ and Crappies out of Brownlee also as of late.. We hit some sunfish and Fat Largemouth today at Cove Arm and finally found the hungry Crappie this afternoon. They sure do shake off the hook.. A few weeks back we really hit some nice blues at CJ.. Anyone getting after any panfish lately?! I've been trying for a big Flathead Cat out at Brownlee but no luck yet.. I think I need to try deeper holes by rocks.. I just want to land ones and get a pic and weigh them and let those big cats go. Next Year's season should be off the hook[Wink][inline IMG_20151018_204702267.jpg][inline IMG_20150926_140150609_HDR.jpg]

I was at CJ week before last and killed the perch, bit couldn't buy a crappie. I tried various jig colors, bobber, no bobber, varied speed and depth, added worm, crappie jaw, cut bait, and still only 2 crappie all day. Boats near us were pulling in crappie left and right. What the heck are the crappie biting on...

Same here. Murdered the perch but 1 crappie. ??????
Tried all our favorites but no takers. If it doesn't let out a big secret what did you use.

For the crappie yesterday my go-to white silver crappie jig worked great, but it was wide open and they were eating anything we dropped down. I was catching them on a 3" gulp minnow even. I have better luck with just a jig and no bait when crappie fishing, its much easier also..Didn't even have a single crappie till late afternoon but once we found em it was on. We Let a bunch go and just kept about 20 nice ones.. That was right out from the steep little east crane cr. Ramp we launched at near cove arm... We drop and pull anchors all the time till we find em. They seem to love back eddies and big rocks.

Nice Catch Squaredog thanks for sharing looks like you had a great time on the water.

My son and I were at CJ last thursday and friday. We had a blast we caught perch everywhere. A few bluegills and then last Friday we really got into the crappie it was a ton of fun. They were eating up my small custom plastic baits I make. we couldnt keep the fish off them. I cant wait to get back up there. Thanks for the report and sharing your pictures.

Went to cj yesterday and tried numerous spots around the cove arm area. Found perch right away and caught some and decided to move and search for crappie. Caught a few 12" bass and two nice 18+" trout on jigs. Worked some different water types and it was dead. Went back to flat spot where I found perch and got into 5 or 6 crappie and tons of perch. I was catching doubles quite a bit. No matter what, couldn't get consistent crappie. Ended up with a nice mess of perch...

Nice report. Sounds like a real fun trip..I'm guessing those were some fine looking and hard fighting rainbows! I can't wait to get back up in that area again. I was surprised when we only hit 2 perch on our trip last Saturday but it sounds like they're all over out there in that area too which I'm happy to hear.

The perch were in 16 to 24 ft of water.

Nice so did you need to use bait or tip your jigs with bait to catch the perch or where they biting on Jigs alone?

So where are the blue gill coming from?

Anyone having luck with the crappie in the narrows this week?

I was having really good luck with them using a red bro-bug blood worm a few weeks ago. If you are having trouble catching the crappie, I'd suggest giving that a try.

Wow that bro bug blood worm is a nice looking bait. I just watched an underwater video of it in action.. Yes the Bluegills were in around 18' -20' of water and were biting dawn till about 10 and then they shut off for us.. The pictured fish were in the main pool but we were hitting them around cove arm also last weekend.

Matt,

My son is arriving home today so I'm not sure how the weekend will shake out. I might want to take you up on that offer if it's still open. I'll let you know.
