where to go, so we made the decision that rather than run far up river we would stay closer and hit some normally productive areas. We headed to Mullins cove to find an active top water bite, unfortunately, it seemed to consist of Gar and White Bass. After an hour or so of fishing, I finally caught the first five fish of the day, one on a top water prop bait, and four on a Sexy Shad Redeye Shad. Unfortunately, they were all short. We then headed down river to another area where we normally have fall luck. On the first cast I hooked up a bass on a shaky head, but it came off at the boat. Dusty then got a tap on a jig, but it would not hold. We then headed to a spot with a large congregation of baitfish. We figured we could pluck a few out of it and get some weight. We worked at it for a few hours with no luck, before heading back to the weigh in. <br /> Brutal day. Cold early, and I think the cold front definitely played a part in the bite.
