I think I will try my last boating trip for the season to Flaming Gorge this Thursday and Friday...Any condition warnings or tips before I go? I plan to do jigging and some down rigger trolling. Thanks in advance for any help.

The Burbot Fishing north of Buckboard this time of year can be fantastic. Find that 20' to 30' of water and as soon as the sun starts setting it's game on. At least that's what I've seen on the fishing shows the last couple years. [

Thanks. I've never targeted Burbot. They look like a catfish crossed with an eel.

I never thought of salt, but that ramp looks like it could be a skating rink...Thanks.

You should have gone this last weekend. Perfectly calm and warm. Tshirt weather during The day. The water was glass flat on Sunday. Water was 48 @ backboard, 45 @ firehole. Rainbows and laker pups were hitting a Salt and pepper tube really well. Rainbows were 15 - 20 deep, pups 30 and beyond. Burbot were scarce just north of buckboard sat night.
Salt for the ramp if it's cold, and be prepared for drastic weather changes and white caps. Be cautious venturing very far from the ramp.

Thanks. I really appreciate the heads up. Hopefully a bit of slightly warmer weather will arrive.

I got an email from a guy a few days ago who caught over 100 burbot in one evening last week north of Buckboard. Glow jigs and sucker meat, normal program. The bigger lakers are still in "that" mode being fished for by "those people" in "the" bay. Same old story. I'm not starting it, I'll just get pissed.

Thanks Jim...We may try for some burbot. I'm just afraid to get caught out by buckboard with insufficient night lighting on my boat to get back to Lucerne.
I guess I am not in the loop regarding that other stuff you mentioned about "them", "the bay", "mode", etc. I am just going to fish and let the big ones go...Thanks again.

If you fish up north, launch up there, definitely don't run from Lucerne to Buckboard this time of year. Stay out of the back of Linwood Bay and you won't have to see the trash.

Has the spawn ended and fish are moving out of Linwood or can some still be found there?

Most are still trying to spawn in there.

Thanks Jim...Hope we see you at the lake.
