Got to strawberry around 6:30 a.m. Unloaded snowmobiles and headed across the lake over by Haws point. We fished until noon and caught 15 fish. All were in the slot limits. we caught them on foxy jigs, tube jigs, and watcha crickets that I got from HFT. Good day on the ice. we missed as many or more than we caught.ice was about 14 inches thick with 6-7 inches of snow on the ice.

Thanks for the report Kokanee. How deep was the water you were fishing in? I'd like to make it up to the berry soon...just need to find a free day! Do you think the snow depth is too much for a wheeler?

I also went to the berry today. We got to mud creek around 9:00 and headed out on the ice. The fishing was fairly slow but still manged to catch 5 five and missed at least 20 bites. All the fish were in the slot. The weather was great. There was about 16-18 inches of ice and about 4 inches of snow. A wheeler could go without a problem on the ice. Got all the fish on a white feather jig tipped with either red and orange powerbait or mealworm. Had a great day. Attached two pictures of some of the fish that were caught. I didn't actually get any fish through the hole. I had six bites and should have landed some of those. My Dad and brothers showed me how to fish today. Maybe next time it will be my turn.

hey killer, we started out in 20ft. of water and them moved to 30ft of water as the bite slowed. picked up 7-8 in the deeper water. Yes the ice is great for 4wheelers, saw several out on the ice with no problems. Good-Luck

I took my brother-in-law ice fishing on Saturday at Strawberry and we had a good time. We were the first ones on the ice at Chicken Creek East and we went about 300 yards to the west in about 15 feet of water. We fished from about 7:30 until 10:30 and ended up catching 9 fish. We had two three and a half pounders, two three pounders, three two and a half pounders, one two pounder, and one 13 inch fishy. All except the little guy were in the slot limit. This was my brother-in-law's first time fishing in Utah and he loved it. I'll try to post some pictures and see if they work. We were using a one inch Berkley nymph with a fluorescent green or red jig head. Near the end we also put a large loop about a foot above the jig and put some power bait on. The last three fish we caught were on power bait. The fish were hitting everything really hard and deep, even on the jig. I know how to set a hook early to keep them from swallowing them but my brother in law didn't so I had to cut a hook and leave it in the fish for now. We were careful so he should be fine. I was just surprised at how hard the hits were. We definitely didn't need the wire indicators on our rods for these fish.
Fun day!!!
