After this cold weather where is everyone heading this weekend?

I'm curious as well. Is chicken creek frozen? or mantua safe yet?

I will be heading to Colorado.

I never fish weekends unless I get an invite from some poor stiff who is still working to pay for his fancy boat, LOL!

Thinking about Mantua Thursday.

Hey Rocky, I want you to know that I paid cash for my boat.[Wink] Probably not a "fancy boat" though.

Will deer creek or jordanelle freeze over soon or stay open water for a while?

Considering that very little of Strawberry has little safe ice, it may be awhile before either Jordanelle and especially Deer Creek have safe ice.

I am betting that many of the bays at Strawberry are frozen up. Once the water cools down enough, things tend to freeze up quickly. With the storm and snow falling into the water, I am sure the water has cooled even more. I am intending on heading up to the berry Saturday morning for a look see. Hopefully there will be enough ice to safely walk on. I want to snowmobile back into Renegade and see what the conditions are. Normally, many of the bays are frozen by now with the main part of the lake ready to cap or beginning.

Sturgeon and largemouth in the same spot.

Yep, it can freeze really fast with cold temperatures and little wind. It was really strange Saturday, as we fished Mud Creek Bay. We could see the open water getting closer to us as the edge of the ice was melting in the afternoon. Not a good feeling when one is only on a maximum of 3" of ice in the first place.

I plan on fishing for both of them more in 2016; especially the sturgeon.[Smile]

I think I'll give Ol' Pelican a try this weekend.

Let me know if those Pelican Gills have any size to them. I wouldn't mind catching a mess of them for a fish fry.

Wish I could go! Stuck at work next 7 days. Seems my timing for hitting the super early ice is always off. At least for warm water stuff.

I'm afraid I've used up all my brownie points and $$$$ taking other people cow elk hunting.

Durn my short-sightedness.
