Any safe ice in the grand junction area? Thinking about a New Year's Day trip.

Everything on the Grand Mesa should be locked up. We fished Island Lake last week. There was 8 inches of good ice…but a lot of slush on top. Pretty quick fishing for splake, bows, and some brookies, but no real size to them.
