While everyone is focused on the ice, I decided to fish the shore with fishslayermp. We drove up to the Rockcliff ramp, at Jordanelle, to find a few inches of snow. The lake looked a mile away so we prepared for the hike in the snow and mud. It was very warm and snow was melting fast. Including the little bit of ice that formed near the mouth of the river we used as a short cut to the shore we were trying to fish. NO safe ice, so don't get all excited and go crazy.. I tried tubes with meat and PB on the bottom for a while with some hits here and there. FSMP was fishing with flys with no luck and eventually switched to spin gear and landed a small bow around 14 on a tube with shiner meat. Maybe an hour later he landed the second bow of the day, which was worthy of taking a ride home with us. Not catching anything, I decided to throw worms 5' below a bobber, and sit for a while. Didn't take long to start hooking into a few more keeper bows to take home. Last one was no more than 20ft from shore. Ended the day with an awesome sunset and 4 fat bows around 16. After FSMP's first hack job, which wasn't that bad, we noticed the meat was nice and dark pink/orange. The meat looked so good we decided to cook rice and eat one nigiri style. Doesn't get any fresher than that. I don't like posting what I cook or eat but its the best picture I have of how good the fish looked. I have taken enough pictures of the same ol' bow... I seemed to have lost my ability to post inline, so ill post the regular way....Waterfowl report- I know this isn't a fishing but it was same time, same place and I know some of you guys also hunt. I took my shotgun, hoping to get a shot at a duck or two, maybe even a goose.. I checked before I went. Its legal.. I saw a good mixed of common ducks that come through Utah. At least as far as I know, I'm not much of a duck hunter. Mallard, canvas back, teals possibly, scaup, and one i didnt recognize. Don't think I saw one coot. I did get a one shot off a group that flew directly over but no hit. There were many more flying in and out along the shore but they would see us before they would get close and turn out and away. If I had better camo, my decoys and one less big, black, bear looking dog, I would have downed a few.
Oh, that looks fun. Delicious, I bet.

Great report, thanks for sharing!

A slow retrieve worked best. My keeper hit the jig 5 feet from me in 7 feet of water. Got to watch the take and all. [fishon] Beautiful day on the Jordy and plenty of critters running all around us.

Thanks for your concern. I DONT recommend that anyone try eating any fish raw. Tastes better cooked anyway
