So I would like to take the kiddos out on a nice trip this weekend. I was considering Lost Creek, I have always had good success there and it is close, but I am not sure if there is safe ice. Has anyone been up there yet this year and if so, how was it?

I was also considering the Berry. I was wondering if other than Mud creek if anyone has fished there yet either. I like to go to Chicken Creek, or the Ladders because I am more familiar with where to fish in those areas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you guys and have a great Christmas.

Its called fishing, not catching.[fishon]

Not sure what to tell you since you're a little south of my stompin grounds, but forecast calls for lots of cold on Christmas and the next day, so I'll bet if you spot is fishable now, it will be safe by then... Lots of folks fishing 2-4" ice this year and that's a little thin to take kids out on and hope to keep them safe, but if you get to 4-6" you should be good to go.... Welcome to the forum, I'm sure others in your area will fill you in with what you need to know... Good luck... J

I drove by the Berry yesterday morning and there isn't a lot of safe ice, especially if you're taking kids. The very north end of Soldier Creek is frozen and we saw several brave souls out on the ice fishing. I didn't go by Mud Creek, but from what has been posted, it appears to have fishable ice.

If ya don't mind catching a lot of chubs with a small mix of cutts then head to scofield or you can head higher to Huntington for tigers.

Huntington has been crowded and kinda slow. I would also look at Scofield with the kids my 13 year old had a great time up there and did not care at all we were mostly catching chubs he was landing fish like crazy.

Larger tubes with chub meat caught trout. Small jigs tipped with night crawler killed the Chubs.

I also tied a drop shot hook above the jig and put a meal worm on which pulled a few trout.

I didnt even think about scofield. I kind of forget its there. That may be a good option. Has anyone heard if Hyrum is frozen. It is usually pretty good for some small trout.

It's getting there. Check the last post out on this thread.

Yup, it'll be getting cold enough, but the predicted winds for next bit will keep things mixed and more difficult to freeze. I can tell you it's a blowin' now.

That will be chilly. Maybe will try my hand at Mantua. Every time I go there I usually am the guy not catching fish. All the people around me are catching like crazy though. [Sad]

So we went Mantua. fished the south east corner in about 11 feet of water. Fishing was slow. We had only 3 bites and iced one fish. Did not even mark much on the fish finder. We moved about 4 times in 3 hours and each hole was about the same. Maybe the berry for next weekend.
