Took two younglings to Rockport today. My 4 year old fishing fanatic, and the maiden trip for our 4 month old, 37 lb, Bernese mt dog. (next year she'll be my sled puller).

Dog managed to find holes on three occasions. Newbies are a pain sometimes!
Started out from the boat ramp, in 36 ft of water. Drilled 20+ holes over a 50 yard by 50 yard area searching for perch. 36 out to 55 ft. Nothing. The wind picked up so it was too cold to stay out. Moved in closer to shore looking for trout and setup the tent at 20 ft. One small nibble. 4 hours and one nibble. FINALLY talked the 4 year old into giving up and heading home. He wanted to stay.
Ice was about 4 inches everywhere I drilled. Several snowmobiles were running about the lake without hesitation. About an inch plus of snow made walking easy.
I 80 was closed in Parley's on the way back, so went up over into Emigration to get home. Little Dell looks sketchy. Possibly some small open spots along shore, and lots of wet cracks. Didn't stop to try given how it looked from the road.
