We started out looking for crappie, and after an hour fishing docks with jigs and no fish we decided to try for some catfish. Using cutbait, we drifted a channel ledge and picked up one or two every drift, mainly in 35 - 40 ft of water. The current was strong enough I needed the trolling motor to slow the drift. My 12 year old has been wanting to catch a TARP anything for a long time, and finally got his wish. The surprise was it was a crappie, not a cat! Out of curiosity, I put Bobby Garland on a 3/4 oz jig head and promptly caught another one... I would've never imagined finding crappie in that much current.
