I'm a little late with my post, due to fishing the last few days. Fished the lake on Saturday to only catch one big four pound rainbow. Not sure what the deal has been with this lake lately, but it has been slow the last few trips fishing it. Not sure if its the level of the water, or the storms rolling in. My wife and I have managed to catch one four pound rainbow and two five pounders this year. Its been really slow the last two weeks. Not sure if its worth the drive to continue fishing it or not. I hope the fishing changes, or I will have too resort to plan B. By the way the ice was a good 8 inches, and no slush where I fished.

Any advice? PM me any tips you wouldn't mind sharing. I haven't fished it before but I'm taking some boys up and we are hoping for success. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Thats normal for Otter Creek. It slows down in January every year. I have my hypothesis why but I will keep them to myself. Good luck on your future fishing endeavors.

In past years I have done well with limits of fish, and big fish well into Feb or longer. The fish didn't spawn in the same area as years past. I think its due to lake levels. I could be wrong about my opinion on that, but it seems to be a weird year period. Hope things change before ice off.

Butley you've really piqued my curiosity. I'd love to hear your hypothesis. Seems to happen in a lot of the lakes I fish, then ice off comes and the fishing is off the hook. I often attribute it to oxygen levels, but have not solid knowledge to back it up.
