So I'm not a crappie expert, but I am getting better at finding and catching. Took my G/K's to Brownlee last Friday. We did okay. We brought home about 1/4 to 1/3 of a 5 gallon bucket.

I'm a little disappointed so far in the size class we've been catching. They are pretty much exactly the same size as what I remember catching last year. I thought that this year they'd be noticeably bigger. Am I just too early for the big ones? Are the bigger ones just hanging back out over deeper water waiting to move in? Or are they just getting picked through and the bigger ones are going home with other fishermen leaving the smaller ones behind?

or there might not be enough food too feed those million's of crappies..... your guess is as good as mine, I assumed they would be bigger also, but does not seem like a grew much,

Yeah I thought we would be seeing 11-12" fish this year. However those 9" fish are awesome just scaled and fried.

Disappointing to hear they are still 9 inches.
Keep hoping for the day they decided to grow up.

They sure grow nice bass, saw a pic of a 6 lb smallie the other day.

G/K's wanted to go back to Brownlee again, so I obliged (okay, they twisted my arm).

The catch rate has improved a little as did the size. Length did really change much, but the fish seemed to have more girth. Just before leaving I found a new spot where nobody was fishing and the crappie were stacked in there thick. One of this I pulled out of that school was shaped like a big bull blue gill. I'll probably go back again next weekend and work on that school for a while. I suspect there are some bigger ones in that bunch as they probably haven't picked over as much.

Reservoir is filling quickly. Came up between 6 and 10 feet in a week, I'd say.

Part of what has got me going that way is the wind forecasts. There has been very little wind at Brownlee most of time (so far at least). :-)

Bass fished sucked. 20 lbs wine our 2 day tournament. We had a big fish of 6.19 largemouth. The bass are deep, 30 to 60 ft. The water level dropped at least a foot on Sunday but I heard the had some ceremony at the dam. Water temp was 47 and clear until you get to powder river then it clouds up a little and there are some logs floating around. The crappie guys where hanging out at the mouth of brownlee creek.

Any recent reports for Brownlee?

Still fishing okay as of Friday. Not great, but you can catch crappie without too much trouble. Catfish are starting to bite too. Not sure about the bass.
