I've never fished it this early, but I would think the rainbows will start to school up around the marina very soon.
Ice off at Lucerne is probably 2 weeks away but it should be a great year to fish.
I'm going up tomorrow for a meeting and I will post pictures and observations when I return.
From my perspective Flaming Gorge and the green river below the reservoir are two of the finest fisheries in America. We are very fortunate to have them in our back yard.
Although the trip from the Wasatch front is not exactly short, it is certainly doable for the chance to fish these extraordinary waters. Very exciting indeed!

i want to spend time there this year too. Haven't had my boat there yet. Wow that's 4 years now... Time flies.

We already have 5 trips planned to the gorge for the year and intend to make full use of our smoker.

Having grown up 35 min from there I did not appreciate it till I moved away. Now I do all I can to get back but it is a ways to pull a boat. Gets spendy fast.

Was catching big lakers this time last year, no Ice
We go up every other week in the summer.
but will miss fishing to take my 95 year old father on the
Utah Honor Flight that is taking our veterans (he was in both WWII, and Korea)
to Washington DC April 21-23

It's going great, upgraded to a 4-stroke Mercury 9.9 kicker at the end of the season and have an ignition upgrade I'm installing on the main motor soon. I love having every other Friday off and plan to hit the gorge a lot this year, at least as much as a wife and newborn will allow anyway. Glad to hear about the trip you get to take with your dad, that program has surpassed many expectations. We owe so much to such a great era in history and those who helped make this country great.
