Has anyone been to Joe's Valley recently? I hear the ice off fishing can be good there. Any tips on flies or location?

Here is a link to the camera on the dam.

Can't help you with flies, haven't fished it since the chubs took over.[:/]

There are some good splake, cutthroats, & tigers in there and fishing early in the year, you shouldn't have to worry about the chubs.

Good luck if you go!

I was up there Friday and Saturday. Fishing was hot for splake. Fished by the dam. The ice is out about 100 yards I used big black and copper wolly buggers and Jakes. Fun time!

Thanks for the link and the report. Any size to the splake?

Yeah the smallest fish was 18" for me. I went there to rock climb and I also like to throw in some casts so I only fished for like an hours each day but it was constant the entire time.

I have only been there once. My son would like to climb while camping there. Where are good areas to climb? Thanks, humpy

If he Is into bouldering you will see alot of boulders off the road up the canyon on your way to joes res. If your heading through Orangeville. Also that river is great.

It was slow last weekend (12th) but my wife and I caught a few. 17 & 18" cutthroat were the biggest. Saw a nice brown in the Creek though. There should be a ton of open water by now.

Based on the camera images, it looks like it is open at least as far as the camera views. Weather permitting it might be great fishing this week-end.
