Does anyone know if they are still planning on dredging the harbor at the UT lake state park?
At the end of the season last year it was only 2.5 to 3 feet deep.

Where did you hear that they planned to dredge it? I have heard that dredging only helps for a short time, because silt moves in and fills in the dredged areas.

The low water levels last fall is why the harbor was so shallow. Havent heard of any plans to dredge. Might ask TubeDude he always has his finger on the pulse of Utah Lake happenings.

[#0000FF]Nah. They will probably just raise the dikes around the harbor...like they did at Willard.

If you Google "Dredging Utah Lake" you will find that there have been some dredging projects in the past but nothing definite for the near future.

In reviewing my minutes from the Utah Lake Commission meetings, I find that was a topic of discussion in October of 2015. I was not at the meeting and there is nothing on their website about it. But I will follow up with the director and see if there is anything new.

I was at the park last week to rent a slip and had a chance to talk to the ranger regarding the dredging project. It seems as there is a lot of money that the state has allocated for Utah lake State Park and the marina on the Great Salt Lake.

The Utah Lake plan is to put up a coffer dam at the outlet to the lake and then pump it dry and then remove the dirt/silt/rocks with heavy equipement.

The bid applications have not been sent out and probably wont be until August or so due to the length of time it will take to get the Army Corp of Engineers approval for the project. With my experience with the Corp of Engineers, I would think this isn't going to happen until next year or this coming winter at best.

Something similar is happening with the county park at Lincoln beach. We put a proposal together for the county commission and submitted it a month ago. It, too, is in the hands of the Corp of engineers awaiting a decision if the launch area and the jetties can be rebuilt. Time will tell. I am hoping to talk to the county engineer next week to get an update. I will let you know.

I want to say I remember at the FOWB meeting it was brought up and they planned on doing GSL first, then UL then WB over the Next 5 years.

The Utah Lake State Park harbor will be dredged this coming fall. The money has been approved and an engineering firm has been hired to figure out the most effective way to do the dredging. More details about the specific dates, methods, etc. will be available in the upcoming weeks.

He also indicated in a followup email that he would be putting up a web article on the site soon. I will post a link to that when it goes up.
