Just curious if anyone out there can point me in the right direction for a little Bass action on the fly? I hear its a riot, but have never done it. Mucho Glacias!

Most anywhere with Bass is good for catching them on the fly. It will just be different presentations for different kinds of water.

Frogs, fish with frogs where frogs are,. Pounding the shoreline at Utah lake can produce some nice bass, the occasional cat too, so be ready for that. Mouse pattern are a top producer too. Spray a Zonker with float-ant and swim it like a snake.
Other place this will work are Mantua, Kaysville, and Holmes creek.

For places with mostly smallies go sinking line. Fish along the shorelines near points that have drop offs. fish p[aralell to the shore line to maximize time the fly is in the zone. A 5ips full sink will get you down where the bass are on Deer Creek, Jordonelle, Rockport and Pineview.
All manner of streamers like clousers, saltwater baitfish patterns, zonkers and especially crayfish patterns can produce. I have several crawfish patterns in beadhead, barbell eye, weedless and keel-fly.

[#0000FF]During most of May and into June you can badly abuse yourself with wipers at Willard. Fish around the dikes with white zonkers, buggers or clousers. Use a sink tip or slow sink.

Later in the summer get in some topwater action next to the banks at Deer Creek, Jordanelle or other bass ponds. Early mornings are best. Use poppers or hair bugs.

Most of the year you can present streamers, buggers or other larger patterns inside harbors and around brush and other structure that would typically hold bass. A good crawdad pattern is always worth trying.

Thanks for the info. That is some good detail on all the variations of approach! I am excited to go get into some bass. Is there a specific spot on Utah Lake that you would suggest/recommend?

I've heard the wipers are a riot! Thanks for the details on that for sure. I will have to get tired on them here soon! I'm excited to chase these and bass. Thanks for the specifics on flys and locations to toss em. Stoked to go chase these fish and give the trout a break.

I grew up in Idaho but never chased em on a fly. I will have to get back up there and seek out some bass. I am up there visiting family enough that I should be able to get on the water too. thanks for the feedback.

I got into some smallmouth at Rockport last year on olive wooly buggers and one on a popper early morning. None were too big but their fights are very fun with those head shakes.

Bass will be at different depths depending on water temps. when it gets to 60 degrees large mouths start spawning, mid 50's for smallies. any colder and they'll be deep and its a big of a challenge to get on them.
