HIGH DESERT LAKES
HESPERIA LAKE: Trout fishing is very good on Power Bait, mini-jigs, or inflated nightcrawlers. Top trout of the week was an 8-8 that was landed by Manny Varela, Apple Valley, on a mini-jig in Finger Cove. Not many catfish have been showing, but Dan Hughen, Riverside, landed cats weighing 12-0 and 10-0 on shrimp off the north shore. There are trout plants each Tuesday and Friday. For more information, call (800) 521-6332 or (760) 244-5951.
JESS RANCH: Trout fishing has been fair to good for anglers fishing Power Bait or inflated nightcrawlers. The lake is stocked weekly on Fridays with fish to 9-0, although most fish are from 1-0 to 3-0. Rich Garcia, Santa Ana, landed a 6-12 on an inflated worm in Lake Three. A few catfish are showing on trout guts and mackerel. For more information, call (760) 240-1107.
MOJAVE NARROWS: Good fishing for trout with Power Bait or inflated nightcrawlers the best baits. There will be a county plant today and the lake will be closed for the stocking. There is also a DFG trout plant scheduled for this week, and there was a bonus 3,000-pound plant recently from DFG. For information, call (760) 245-2226.
