My dad is flying in town on Friday. I've been thinking of taking him up to Strawberry but with the forecast for lots of rain on Saturday I'm thinking of just taking him to catch some white bass for a couple hours.

I live just off the Lehi Main street exit. What are the best places in that area to go catch some white bass? If I drive up lehi main towards Saratoga, I cross a river that comes out of Utah Lake. Is there good white bass fishing in that area? Or do I need to hit up a marina?

Not looking to harvest anything on this trip. Just looking for a place with some fast action for me and my pops.

[#0000FF]Best bets would be either the American Fork Boat Harbor area...or the pumphouse area where the Jordan River comes out of Utah Lake. That is the river you cross...and there are places to fish in several spots along there. And the white bass fishing...and cats too...can be good.

One of the better spots some years is the small area just below the control gates at the park by the pump house. See map. Spawning white bass gang up in the current and it can be good fishing...if you bring your own rock to stand on. You will make new friends.

At American Fork there is a parking fee, but you can park outside the gates and pay only a $2 walk in fee. Look for other anglers. Some might be fishing from the docks. Others will be fishing off the rocks at the mouth of the harbor. The fish will move around.

Another option is to fish the inflowing American Fork "river". The white bass run up that small flow too and if you find a deeper spot you are likely to find white bass.
