Has anyone been able to have success at Bear Lake? With school out for summer, I can finally get out of my office for a few days. Just looking to pull in a few fish.

The water skiers, tubers and jet skiers are about to begin the bombardment of Bear Lake. A lot of the guys I know that fish bear lake stop going in the summer months because of it. Garden city population goes from small to very large in the summer. The lake is a busy place in the summer.....

Come on up here now or immediately after Memorial Day and troll the east side around Cisco beach and to the north in 35-65 FOW, or just as good is to launch at the state park Marina and troll from the marina to the north up to about the boy scout camp in water from 20'- 45'. Use a long line method of trolling and you should score some decent Cutts for the next week or two. Minnow imitating lures and flat fish work well.

After another couple of weeks the water will "turn over" and it will be slow fishing for a couple weeks. After that it is usually pretty good throughout the summer in all the normal spots if you fish from sun-up till about 9:00am. The fish will be deeper during that time. After about 9:00am, the water skiers and recreational boaters take over and you're better off to bag it for the day. About the end of August the crowds thin and the fishing gets a bit better and lasts longer in the day than just in the early mornings.

Good luck!

Thanks. I was out this morning for 3 hours until about 10 with no luck. Launched at Cisco and tried downriggers, but I'll give the long line a shot tomorrow. It's just nice to be on the water, but a fish or two wouldn't bother me.

My brother and I fished it on Friday. We caught 2 mac and 2 cutthroats and lost 1 at the boat. Pretty slow fishing. We threw everything we had at them.
