I took the brand new pontoon with the verado motor out for the maiden voyage yesterday. That engine is so quiet I can't even hear it. The slowest we could troll was 2.5 miles per hour. We had 15 on the boat so fishing was not the priority on this maiden voyage. However, I did throw out leaded line a couple of times even though the speed was high. We caught rainbows every time we put the lines out. Crazy!! What a great machine. Wow. I did not have time or space to play with the new Minkota Terrova motor or the Canon electric down riggers. That will be next at flaming gorge next Monday.
Yea, I have a new boat and I caught fish going 2.5 mpg.
The ones we caught we nice and fat fish. I posted a couple of pics. Can't wait to get out and try the other toys.

Sounds like a pretty good MAIDEN VOYAGE. What size engine is the verado. Hope your trip to the Gorge is a good one.

Thanks, we leave in the morning for the gorge. I am anxious to find out where the kokanee are hiding. Have you heard where they have been catching them lately?

The Verado is a 200 Turbo Charged engine that generates about 275 horsepower. I can't wait to see what it can do after the break in period.

I sure don't have any first hand info but my friend was up there and he did good around the Big Bend area, south of Buck board.
Wow, thats a good sized engine for a pontoon, I bet it will really push it along.

How was the decontamination at Deer Creek?

I fished DC on Saturday. I launched my boat at 7:00am trolling and didn't get any hits until about 8:30 over in Rainbow Bay. I fished the spot for about another half hour and didn't see much on the finder. I went up to the inlet and fished for another hour and saw very few fish on the finder so I headed for the shoreline along the highway. When I got to the Island bay area I started catching fish. I trolled back and forth across that bay and landed 7 more rainbows. All were fat and strong. I caught one that was about 3lbs and fought really hard. I was using popgear and nightcrawlers. I decided to get off the water about 11am because to the all the non-fishing boat traffic.
It was a good day and didn't have to decontaminate my boat however they did tag it.
The DWR guy said if I didn't launch in another water within 7 days I was OK and wouldn't have to worry about contamination.
