We decided to brave the holiday weekend crowd and go give Minersville a shot on Saturday morning.

The boat ramp parking lot was full of vehicles and trailers.
The campground was full, including all the new campsites.
Additional people were parking trailers on the beach near the ramp.

construction has started on the new boat mooring bay for overnight use.

Wow! Beaver County has really embraced Minersville, much more so than the State Parks ever did. It's great to see the facilities getting used as much as they are -- and much of that can be attributed to great fishing! The relationship the DWR and Beaver County has with Minersville Reservoir is fantastic!

fishing was good, even with all the boat traffic (mostly anglers!). Trout were cruising sub-surface sipping midges prior to 11:00 (when the wind starts). Water clarity is good, which made it fun to watch for those cruising rainbows. Most people trolling were picking up some trout. They are in fantastic shape! Fat, round, strong -- and they like to leap!

Water temps were right at 59 - 60 degrees -- which means those smallmouth should be starting to sit on reds. I'm guessing some of the bass guys were picking up some smallies already.

No wipers today. I can't figure them out...
1 surprise catch: a healthy brown!

fun times at Minersville. Fishing is good. Services are good. Everything is good!

I believe that I fished Minersville as a youngster, but that has been many moons ago. I need to wander down that way one of these days, but it sounds like it would be a good idea to avoid holidays and weekends.

Those Browns are getting to be less of a surprise.[Smile]

Growing up, we would come and visit my Grandparents in Milford. One of my mother's uncles always fished Minersville and would bring several trout to my Grandmother. She would fry them for breakfast, it was almost like salmon, bright orange flesh, very, very good. Those fish were always like footballs, subsisting on a diet of scuds and insects. I got to fish it several times from shore, usually down by the dam, my first introduction to Utah Trout fishing, velveta cheese and night crawlers. Minersville solidified my love of fishing as a kid !!
Hello does anyone know if they have any cabins for rent arround minersville? Just don't wont to pull everything down. Thanks

There is a motel in the town of Minersville and one in Milford down the road !! Good Chinese restaurant in Milford !!
Plenty of hotels in Beaver which is less then 10 minutes away. Nothing on the reservoir though. With this warm weather a tent may not be a bad option. Hope this helps.

the campground at Minersville Reservoir has showers. $10 for tent camping
$20 for RV
Not a bad deal.

For those of you coming to Minersville from else where you should also make a stop at Beaver Sport and Pawn on Main St. in Beaver.

They have a large selection of flys that work good at Minersville {at a good price} as well as the largest innovatory of fire arms in Utah, and just about anything else you can think of.

Also this place will deliver some really good pizza to the camp ground.
