Took a tip from flyfisinglover and punkinhead and stayed away from Mantua since still no reports of fish along the shore as late as Saturday. Went to Hyrum with my son on Thursday and each caught 3 each drifting a worm w/no weight along the south shore. They were all in the 15" - 17" range and pretty fat. We were only there about 3 hours so not so slow we got bored though we certainly didn't wear ourselves out reeling in fish.
On Friday we went to East Canyon in the morning and fished from around 8:00 - 12:00. We each caught 2, with1 long distance release. We tried trolling with castmasters & worms, flatfish, small rapalas, and slow dragging worms about 3 feet behind a clear bubble filled with water. The only thing that worked was the worm/bubble combo. All of the fish were caught just outside of the buoys and off the point of the arm just west of the boat ramp. A light breeze came up so we shut off the motor and drifted and that worked the best. We did see a boat pull in a really nice brown, but that was the only other fish we saw or heard of. It was a beautiful day and didn't get windy until we had to leave anyway.
