Today was one of those days when the Bull Shad was doin it's job! We had some major blow ups on the Bull this morning and was able to land only 3 of them. My client/friend was able to land one "Good-Un" on a Bull Shad Herring while using a spinning rod with 25# Vicious braid that put on a great acrobatic show, but it was his next hit that un-nerved him...and myself. That fish would have been one to talk about, an extreme explosion and just a couple of seconds of pulling then it was over. We got to enjoy a few of hrs. of Bull Shad action before we decided to go swim a 1/2 oz.Choo Choo Jig for a while in some deep eel grass. This pattern produced his personal best a 2nd. time for the day, a 6.6 lb."Good-Un". We caught a few more smaller fish on a jig in the deep eel grass before we called it a day. This was a great day and a great time on the water with a good friend... I now want to point out that the meetings we are having for the lake are to come up with ways to take better care of the lake. I'm in no way saying that the lake is so bad that "The Sky is Falling" or the lake is "DEAD". We are still able to catch fish and some days some decent numbers of fish, "BUT", when you look at the kind of pressure this lake has received from tournaments and tourism the past several years, it's only right that we try and look for ways of replenishing and helping this valuable resource. It's the tournaments and tourism that brings the revenue into our local cities and businesses. This is an important process for everyone that wants to see this lake get back on top of the list for one of the best lakes in the country to go fishing. This process is also extremely important for our children and grandchildren to have the opportunity to experience what we have got to experience during our years of fishing the best lake in the country, the "Big-G"! The next meeting will be July 31st. at Goose Pond Bait n Tackle at 3pm. This is a very important meeting to go over the steps we need to take so please mark your calendar and try to attend. Thanks and have fun. Mike Carter
