Decided to go this morning since it was so nice compared to how hot and muggy it had been lately. It was a very nice morning. To my surprise there were not too many folks out. emoThumbsup Wanted to just get out and stretch a line, also maybe put some fish in the freezer since I was completely out.

Started on the bass. I could not get anything to chase. Chatter, cranks and swims all without a smell. Went to the spook and had two want to play on it. One short and one keeper. Not much on top so I changed over to my old faithful shakey. Went a little deeper then I normally go before I found a few. 15 to 20 feet along drops was where I could get bit. The bite was slow and they did not seem to want to eat it. Came in four time with half my worm missing after they bit and I set the hook. emoScratch Did manage about a dozen more into the boat with none all that huge. Best one was in the four lb class. Since I was not trying to get a heavy limit it was just fun. Had about six or seven more keepers on it.

Switched over to crappie about mid morning. Took me a while to find some of those willing to play too. Finally managed a limit of nice crappie in the 10.5 to 12 inch size range. Let a couple keepers go that were right at the ten inch mark. Most of the crappie came from 20 to 25 feet with rock drops. Four pound test high viz line with a crappie bobby garland assassin on a 1/16th head. It was a slow go but once you seemed to get it down there one would take it. Issue was getting that small of a bait in the strike zone. Had a fun time and headed home to clean them. emoHungry

Not a bad day. We are just spoiled. Got to stretch a line and ended with a fresh fish fry supper as well as a couple more messes for the freezer. Mmmmmgood! emoBig Jmax
