Met a friend at Lindon Marina Friday night for some bank fishing. Both of us are pretty new to catfishing and this was just my second trip to Utah Lake.

He had been there a bit and had landed some white bass and one nice 6 lb channel by the time I got there. I got set up and lines in the water by 9. We weren't killing it, but we were catching fish. We ended up with about 8 cats by the time we hit the sack about 2. We got after it again by 5 AM, but I just missed fish until heading home about 8. My buddy caught a few more.

We kept 5, and had a few get off the stringer. Remember, we are newbs, and I am seeing my trout stringer can't hack 5 to 6 lb channels. They just pop open the clips and swim off, if the clips close at all. Either way, I am looking forward to the fish fry tonight.

Heading back again soon to keep learning this.

Big thanks to TubeDude. I stopped by his place on the way down to pick up a few books from him and shoot the breeze. Great guy and I am diving into the books.

[#0000FF]Glad you guys got into a few fish. Don't sweat the stringer thing. All trout to cat converts gotta learn that lesson as a prerequisite rite of passage.

Hope you didn't eat that bait I gave ya. That was not sushi. It was for the catfish.

Way to go ! Sounds like you had a good time and that's what it's all about. The cats in that lake will test your equipment that's for sure. I really enjoy catching them on light gear (drag set just right) with TubeDude's handmade jigs. Glad to hear you got your TubeDude fix, your in good hands.
