[#0000FF]A four letter word called WIND has kept a lot of folks home...or sent them home after a short bumpy ride. But there have been fish caught.
I hit Willard north marina in my tube this morning. Will be posting a report soon. Water level is dropping quickly...about 1 to 2 feet within the past couple of weeks. Lots of bait balls from newly hatched shad and other species. No boils but terns were picking shad off the surface here and there.
Water temp early was 73...going to 75 about noon. Clarity was sorta murky but not muddy. Still good enough for most trolling.
I was limited in the area I could cover. Didn't see much on sonar out to about 20'. Caught some cats in 10-12 feet off Eagle Beach. Moved inside the harbor. Down to 10' deep. No cats but one nice 20" wiper.
Saw a half dozen boats go out to different areas. And they were all moving around a lot...with most of them coming back in by noon. Nobody else at the cleaning station.

I went out of the South Marina at 6 AM. Fished mostly the west side until noon. Managed to boat a half dozen wipers, but at a fish an hour it was slow.

TD hit it right on the head, WIND. That is almost the biggest fish bite killer at WB. And the low pressure systems that have come thru the last few days makes it tough too. I went out last weekend, fished 5 hours, used every trick I know, caught 1 junior size Wiper on a Fire Tiger Rattlin Rapala, and again today. Both caught in just about the same area, on the same lure at the same troll speed. But a positive about the wind, it keeps the bugs away. Today was beautiful on the water, and most of the power squadron were behaving too. Got my 1 Wiper and 2 small cats. Released all.
