So I learned this week that I am a terrible uncle. I have a Nephew that is about 10 that has never been fishing. This is a problem that must be remedied this summer. I am trying to pinpoint a good spot where we can go with fast action but not too far from home. The size of the fish doesn't mater, I am just looking for plenty of them. I was thinking about giving Mantua a try but I have never fished there on soft water, and I have also read some reports that may not be too favorable up there. I am curious if any one has some recent experience up there with the pan fish and what is a good way/place to fish for them up there. Also if anyone has another spot where a few kids could find some good action I am defiantly open to suggestions

where are you located at? Last I heard the Wellsville pond was doing good with planter trout. Also they just dumped in a bunch of 8" wipers too.

If you don't care what you catch, I would hit Scofield for the chubs. Almost a guarantee for lots of action! You may even get a bonus trout.

I am in Layton, so Scofiled may not be the closest choice for me. I also have a boat so going to a community pond does not sound to fun to me[crazy]. We will probably give Mantua a try unless someone has evidence that that is not a good idea at this time

Take him to Willard Bay. My 11 year-old grandson is hooked after I took him there for the first time last year.
