We blasted off CFF #9 and headed up river to a slough we had fished a week before with good success. We arrived and immediately learned that topwater bite did not appear to be on for us. Before dark, I had caught 1 on a topwater, 1 on a fluke, and 1 on a creature bait, but no keepers. Right at dark, the rain came and we endured a downpour for approximately 15-20 minutes. After that we moved back up to a lighted dock where we caught the biggest fish of the night in 10 feet of water on a creature bait. We caught 5 more fish off that dock before we decided to move down and caught three more in that slough, all short. We made a run down river and settled into our normal night time slough. I caught a mud cat on a creature bait in 4 FOW before we decided to take a chance and fish some shallow grass. On the second cast with a thumper worm I caught our second keeper of the night. Moving off onto a flat we hooked two more fish that came off. We then moved over to a shallow dock and caught our third keeper. We then caught two more fish, including two more keepers, which gave us a small cull before heading back into the weigh-in. Fish caught from 1 FOW to 12 FOW. Hot water temps in the high 80s where we fished. Fish caught on Zoom/Missile creature baits and Strike King worms, as well as fluke and topwater.
