Planning on going to Sitka to fish, has anyone fished the lodges there?
Thanks..
Are you set on Sitka?
If not Just north of Sitka on ChiChagof Island is Elfin Cove. There you have both guided and semi-guided lodges. Its closer to the main corridor of fish pushing in through North and South Pass. Basically a major bottle neck for salmon pushing into the inner passage and the fishing there is awesome. We did the self guided deal which we had never been to Alaska, or ran a down rigger (Fly Snobs basically) and still limited on Silvers every day, rock bass, and caught a pile of halibut with the biggest being just over 123.
Waters Edge was the self guided lodge we went to and it Ran $3k ish for 6 nights and 5 days of fishing. They provide everything but a guide essentially and cut you loose to go do your thing. End of the day you hand them the keys to the boat and they fillet and vacuum pack your fish then freeze it.
Also a plus on semi guided is the regs are different on halibut vs. fully guided on what you can keep. We gave some fish away to top a few peoples boxes off but we ended up with 375lbs of fillets between the 3 of us on the way home.
If you're looking fully guided Eagle Charters out of Elfin Cove runs a top shelf lodge too. Either way I would recommend that area over Sitka.

I did last year fish with Horizon West Guides and Captain Mark Diaz. Great people and a fun trip. Caught a bunch of Silvers, Cod and even the attached what would have been World REcord Pacific Halibut. It didn't qualify because me and my buddies took turns reeling it in. I would highly recommend Horizon West.

What a slab! How deep was she?
The northern fishing area out of Sitka is the same as the southern area out of Elfin. We fished Yakobi a bit while there. Have a good time and just soak it in. That place gets in your system and won't leave.

She was in about 280 feet. I am headed to Yakutat in about a month to river fish for Silvers. Gonna hit the Situk and Tsiu rivers. Stoked!
