Congratulations, nice mack, it should be a tasty eater, I hear they are great on the BBQ.

Sounds like you need to introduce one to your BBQ and find out for yourself....

What makes you think I haven't already?

When you say you "hear" they are great on a bbq, to me it sounds like you haven't tried it. I would hate to see a old fisherman catch all those lake trout, and never invite one home for dinner. That dream can come true [Wink]

By the way, that is a sweet fish! It's bigger than any lake trout I have caught.

That was why I worded it that way, not because I have eaten macks cooked on a BBQ but because some people like it on a BBQ, others don't. I did not care for it that way, likely the oils in the fish but I much prefer all trout and salmon smoked.

I bet that was a blast on a lighter rod, was this at the gorge?

I have found this to be the case when they get over 5-6 pounds or so, but the smaller macs grill up very nicely. I personally prefer the smaller macs anyway due to the increased mercury content in the bigger ones.
