BFT team,
I'd like to thank all of you for your fantastic support for this event each year, This year was one of our most successful ever. The fishing was off the hook great and we had all the vets out on boats early this year. I loaded the last vets on their boats at 7:50 so things wen't very smoothly this year.
I hit the water with Dr K, who is in charge of the veterans program at the VA, at about 8:30 and by 11:00 we had boated 15 kokes with some of the biggest of the year. Dr K caught this beautiful 21.5 inch monster. We also got one 20.5 in and most were between 17.25 and 18.5 inches. We caught nothing under 16 inches, just fantastic fish.
We had continuous action from 45 to 55 feet in the Soldier Creek side, never out of site of the launch ramp. We caught fish on squids and spinners, green, orange and pink both in uv and glow colors. At 11:00 we packed it in and headed back to get ready for the lunch.
Everyone of the volunteers deserves a big hand, from the boaters to the folks that come spend their time helping facilitate all the logistics on shore such as registration, breakfast, handing out gear bags, escorting vets to their boats, etc......
Special thanks to the following sponsors:
Smith and Edwards
Redmond Minerals (Subway sandwiches)
Pure Fishing
Grounds for Coffee
IM FLASH
Maniac Custom Baits
Day's Market Heber
Knight's of Columbus (Spanish Fork)
Sportsman's Warehouse
Colonial Flag
I am soliciting donations for next year's event. I have created some great hats with the UDVFF logo on them. Any donation of $30 or more will receive a hat. If you would like to donate send me a PM and I will get you all the particulars. I'm wearing the hat in the picture with my grand daughter. I also attached a close up of the logo that is embroidered on the front of the hat. The black background around the outside is replaced with the navy blue of the hat.
Thank you all !!!!!
To Trevor, couldn't have done it without you this year man....
