Gonna be in st George for a funeral on Monday. I am traveling on Sunday. I may try to batch some bass, but from the shore. Any suggestions? I'm not much of a bass fisherman but really want to try to get one.

Sand Hollow is probably your best bet. Gunlock had rotenone treatment last fall. They apparently transported fish there but I'm sure fishing still isn't hot. Quail Creek is another option but usually I have better luck at Sand Hollow.

The last few days have been a little cooler but lately it's been really hot so come prepared.

Look for structure and cast to it or just beyond and retrieve. Spinner baits will work great at this time of year. Early
Morning you may get some top water action as well.

Try the rocks on both sides of the boat ramp, if you can walk around on them and work the cracks..

Was able to get my float tube out for a few hours. Launched at 8:15 and worked the rocks and trees in between the two boat ramps. Only caught one but it was a largemouth about 11 inches according to the rough measurement on my tube. I also saw several follow my lure all the way into my flippers. Kinda funny to see that. Overall I am pleased as this was my first largemouth (at least that I can remember). I may have caught them at Powell as a kid but that was 15 years ago. Hopefully I can get into them again soon. Any suggestions on largemouth closer to salt lake?

Yes quail creek. I can't give a report on how the fishing was for everyone else. It could have been great for others but there is a learning curve for me trying to catch bass haha even though I only caught one at least it wasn't a dink 5 incher like my first couple attempts at smallmouth at east canyon and Rockport.

Wish I had seen your post earlier...I would have told you to skip Quail and go to Sand Hollow. Quail is difficult, even for us experienced bass anglers. You can catch them all day at Sand Hollow, even as a novice. Fish along the South dike and around the marina if you ever make it back down here...any plastic that imitates a crawdad or bluegill, and put it on a heavy enough jig head that you can bounce it along the bottom...and you are in business!
