well even a blind hog can find an acorn every now and then. We started off like some other folk thinking the rain would kick start the topwater bite, we pull up to our first spot and 5 min in Mike has the first keeper a 13 in .5 LB spot. we fish for another 45 min or so with not a blow up or smell. we decide to make a move. we get to our second spot and it starts to sprinkle some we pull under a slip to get the rain suits on and go back at it. it raining good and Mike hooks up again, I grab the net and its number 2 in the boat a 1.99 mean mouth., about 10:30 I have a fish absolutely explode on a chatter bait Mike grab the net and says take your time, I working this fish in and it goes on a few runs, finally its getting close to the boat and we see it OMG it about a 10Lb blue cat (I have never seen a cat jump). I throw back out and final a bass hits and comes unbuttoned about half way to the boat. after about 30 min I hear a splash and Mike is boat flipping our biggest fish of the night into the boat (3.99) I said why didn't you holler he said he didn't have time the fish hit right at the boat and the just slung it in. We are thinking we need to cull the small spot, I told Mike on a night like this you never know. we are only able to catch shorts after this so we head to the scales..we wigh in with 6.60 good enough for 3rd and Mike's mean mouth get him big spot. we caught fish in Buzz baits, plastics and Chatter Baits. Congrats to the winners. Its always fun talking to the guys at the ramp before and after. as you can tell from the report I never put a keeper in the boat.. I guess its a good thing Mike lets me be his net man.

by the way Patrick..thank you for leaving that fish for us..... emoPoke
