[#008000]Well my daughter has always felt bad that I take the young men back packing each year and she doesn't get to go... So thought I better try and make it up to her this year.. So last week her and I took off for the Wind Rivers... Things started slow with a wide load bulldozer blocking the road most of the way up Logan Canyon followed by smoke and forest fire at Beaver Mtn... But we eventually got moving and six hours later had our permits and made it to the trailhead... There was a real chill in the air as we started our 7 mile trek into our first stopping point.[/#008000]

[#008000]Even though we were tired we figured the fish needed to be tempted so we started casting... Didn't take long...[/#008000]

[#008000]We had lots of fun that night and the wind started to blow... through the night a rainstorm/ snow storm set in and in the morning it finally quit and left behind the fog and cold.... Snow down to 10,200 Ft... but didn't last long... [/#008000]

But the weather didn't stop the fish from chowing down... Had a great morning....

Anyway we had planned to go in further, but my daughter started to feel sick and the storms returned for a second day and night, so we headed out early... Great trip seen a pair of bear on the way out plus lots of other critters... Still didn't make it to my desired destination up there... Both trips this year left me a couple miles short of my goal.... but one day I'll make it... Later J

Looks like a great trip and one that will not be forgotten. Special times.

Pretty girl, pretty fish, pretty country... probably best to leave Dad behind the camera.[Wink]

Good on ya.

Hey Lynn, it was a fun time and for sure better to leave me behind the camera lens... Daughter will be turning 19 soon so this old Dad is afraid it might be one of the last times for a Daddy daughter trip.... Somehow she has other interests starting to build so I'm thinking my days are numbered.... Glad we got the chance to take the trip... One last try at another picture...

We had lots of doubles in fact, I showed up there with my small mouth double jig rig on my pole and casted it out just in case it might work... Nailed two sweet brookies on a single cast... They were hungry up there, but still fat and well kept... I later tried a redneck bobber, I cut a tree branch and tied it on the line... Fish totally pounded it on the surface... sure wished I had a popper with me.... Anyway thanks for the well wish... J

Thanks Kevin, it was a fun tip even if the weather felt more like hunting season. Later J

Awesome trip. Got to say I'm a little jealous, I miss fishing with my kids. But now I have grandkids to teach. Great pictures.

Thanks Rod, sure wish that place wasn't so far away. Id love to go more often, but then it wouldn't be as special to me as it is. Thanks. Later J

Wow Jeff, looks like you had a great time. Those brookies are awful pretty looking. Your pics look really good and they make me itchy to hit the brookies hard up in the Uintas. Glad you got a daddy/daughter camp out put together, that time is priceless!

I'm panicking at the thought of my last two kids getting to the age where they have other interests. My last two girls are only 11 and 13 so I suppose I have a few years left to have fun with them, but I can't beleive how fast time went with my first 4 boys.....scary!

Got stuck behind the dozers ehh? They got them up to the fire and parked them by my rig and they just sat there for the whole time without hardly touching them. It had to have cost a fortune to bring them up just to let them sit.

I just spent 14 hours a day for the last 13 days up on that fire and I'm ready to fish!! I have a 3 day hike in trip in the Uintas on the 8th planned and may get my girls to go with me too. Just a short trip into notch lake, but hey, it's better than nothing.

Hi Mike, you are so right about time going too fast. I can't believe my daughter is 19. Those years just disappeared they went by so fast. Sure hope you get a good trip in and the weather will treat ya well.

So did you guys get that fire under control? I'll bet that big puff of wind Thursday night didn't help much. Sure too bad to see that pretty country burn. Used to love riding our sleds cross country up through that area it was some of my most favorite riding. Well thanks for the howdy and good luck next week. Later J

Ya, it's pretty much out. Some smoldering areas, but for the most part it's all done. Surprisingly the wind on Thursday had no affect on it.

Oh good deal that's great news. Good luck on the brookies and when you get time we need to go catch a few cats. Later J
