Not sure how much truth there is to it, but I was told a couple guys got nailed on Cisco Beach for having too many Cisco. $500 each for being over the limit and $80 for each fish over the limit! Wow! I was told they were WELL over their limit. If it's true, that's some expensive bait.

[pirate][red]wow!!!! that would hurt the old fishing budget, but if they were over the limit, then they deserve everything they get...

In California they impound your equipment until you pay fine. I heard in some instances they also can impound boat! Ouch[pirate]

[pirate]Well I may be a little biased with this but I think it equates to nothing more than poaching, they are stealing resources from us and our children and from the future. They need to take all of the tools of the Poachers trade. make it hurt so they dont do it again.

I was on the UDWR angler report page the other day and one guy implied that his party had limited out on cisco each day for three days straight. He left his email and name so I wonder if he might be the one who was nailed. If he hasn't he should be.

I agree. If you don't take equipment they will just go to another spot away from Fish and Game. As you probably guessed by my name I release like 85% of my fish. To allow them to grow up nice and strong and make mo big fish.

]Right on, I teach my kids to do the same thing only take what we are going to eat, let the rest go to grow up and make more fish for us to play with in the future. [cool]

nail em to the wall. i agree that it is poaching so rack um up.

If that is the case, I think they deserve the fine. Now don't get me wrong, if they are some poor, starving, poverty stricken family, I could turn the other cheek, but my guess is that they are a little greedy, and probably sell them illegally to make a profit. Just my 2 cents.

BLFG told us last weekend that they caught some guys with almost 10X their legal limit. I beleive he said they had over 300 cisco. Is this accurate, BLFG?

Man, that is crazy! I hope they have to pay a sever fine, maybe that will deter them from future violations.

HOLY SHIT [shocked]
Thats over a 25,000 dollar fine!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonder if they were able to save the fish?

Sounds like a fair fine to me.

That is great that you guys are teaching you kids to release most fish. I too am trying to teach my kids the same thing. Sometimes its hard to convince them to let the fish go, but I tell them that if they let them go they will be bigger the next time we come up. Besides if I take them home then I have to clean or filet the damn tings which I don't even care to eat. Keep up the coaching and maybe by the time our kids are grown there will be some really big fish in this state.

On man, that one HURT!!! I'm glad they got caught. I hate people like that. Ruin it for the rest of us, they do. I agree with impounding their equipment till they pay up, but I think it should go a bit further. Why not take their car/truck? That would give them a really good incentive to pay up.

Well I know if you get caught poaching a Trophy animal you lose your gun, your truck and if your transporting it in a trailer you will lose that too, but only if you dont owe a boat load of money on it, the state doesnt want to hasle of getting it paid off it its worth less then you owe. but I think they should still take it all make the bastard pay it off as part of the fine.
I think they should take every damned thing they have with them when they poach, Truck, 5th wheel, quads ect, and if they are ice fishing take their augers poles, flasher/fishfinders, tackle, then donate it to a kids fishing program, or a DWR sponsered orginazation, or hell even this group, give it to IFG and have him teach under privledged kids about Ice fishing I sure as hell would help out and I know alot of you guys would, hell even take their cold weather clothing to donate to the kids to wear.

well if it is true i say no fine is too big. if its a common mistake then i feel bad. perhaps the fines could go in progressions like first offense not so drastic second offense nail them to the wall. let me clarify not on big game. im just thinking of cisco. either way im glad to see poachers slammed myself.
